About Siang Shang Junior High School Baseball Team

Due to the limit of spaces, there is only a small baseball court in Siang Shang Junior High School.

Students have to get used to four different training spaces, and sometimes they have to spare the spaces with walkers, which makes baseball team's enrollment harder. The coach likes to kidding that "students who participate in baseball team are fighters."

"It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop." This is the spirit of Siang Shang baseball team.

In Siang Shang baseball team, you have to balance school study and baseball.

Whether students can participate in training depends on students school performance. Coach Zhong values students' attitude much, he hopes them to have the ability of independent thinking and be responsible for themselves.

Team Spirit

The slogan of baseball team is "Be positive, work hard," which is the same meaning as the school name "Siang Shang."

We hope students could face everyday with positive attitude！

Our mascot is an ox, which means that although we don't run fast,

we reach the goal steadily step by step.

Our students' performance also responds to oxen's attitude.

We are not top players yet, but we make all the efforts to reach this goal.

Goals and Obstacles

Baseball team's short term goal is to keep staying top two of Taichung and get into quarterfinal in national games. Their long term goal is to wish students to bring what they've learnt to their future, and move on influencing more people.

Siang Shang Baseball Team has been founded for 27 years, which is the oldest baseball team in Taichung. However, Siang Shang baseball team is the only team that doesn't have their own baseball field. They have to train in school sports field, sparing the space with other people, which is hard to do the training and keep people's safety at the same time. Therefore, lack of hardware becomes the biggest obstacle in enrollment.

In addition, we all understand the importance of study for students. Siang Shang Junior High School provides an after-school studying program for students. Not only does the coach participate in this study program, school teachers also spend two hours four days a week assisting students in studying. However, the requirement of study makes students who have gave up on studying since elementary school hesitate to join the baseball team.
